It’s time for a long-overdue upgrade to dog waste bags… My name is Max Leahy, and I am the founder of PnT Pets Inc., and the inventor of Poop ’N Tie dog waste bags. It has been said that "necessity is the mother of all invention.” This necessity is what lead me to create Poop ’N Tie bags. I grew up in a suburb of New York City with two Old English Sheepdogs. Our house had a dog run out back, so I never had to think about picking up after them right away. In fact, it never crossed my mind. When I relocated to Los Angeles, I got my first “fur-child.” She is a beautiful Australian Shepherd with two bright blue eyes named Scout. I quickly learned the trials and tribulations of picking up and conscientiously throwing away the poop. I tried many different dog waste bags and found them to be sub-par in quality. The problem was as Scout grew larger, it became more difficult to tie the full poop bag as she pulled on her leash. I tried bags similar to plastic shopping bags with handle ties. They were much easier. However, none of these came in a roll format, let alone bags that would fit into a roll dispenser for a leash. I began my quest to find an adequate poop bag that met my needs. One day after taking out my kitchen trash, it struck me that a drawstring poop bag might be the solution. Sometimes, the answer is right in front of you. I experimented cutting a drawstring kitchen bag into smaller bags and afterwards using a food saver machine to seal the edges - and - Eureka! The Poop ’N Tie bag was born. www.poopntie.com add PETRADIO in the promo code box for 20% off your first order
As many students swapped classrooms for computers over the past year, a new survey of 2,000 parents across the UK and US finds that their children’s classmates in the virtual learning setting – their pets—provided real mental health, academic and social benefits. Research has long shown the benefits of having pet interaction in a physical classroom setting and this study confirms these benefits are now being seen in virtual education environments as well. The survey reveals pets helped children cope during the pandemic -- decreasing loneliness, anxiety, and stress and providing a source of motivation for their studies helping improve academic performance. This is positive news in light of early indicators the pandemic has had a negative impact on children’s social skills and well-being, with a recent report finding over 1.5 million children in the UK alone will need additional mental health support as a consequence of the pandemic.
Wishing you and yours peace and love this Easter holiday and Passover We have all been through a trying year and as the country opens, we pray everybody will remember to stay safe through their travels and gatherings with friends and family. We continue to rescue unfortunate angels that once again are being abandoned and found their way to the shelters. Your love and support help us to continue saving innocent lives. Your Easter tithings mean the world to the dogs! We have included pictures of a few of our recently rescue dogs and the bewildering story of sweet “Bruno” who we recently rescued. Easter treats for your four-legged best friends! While many of you continue to share food from your table, we encourage you NOT to feed them human food from your dinner table. For their health, feed grain free, limited ingredient dry food and canned foods, such as Evengers and Against the Grain 100% straight meat with no stews. You can also steam their meat and add to their dry food. I feed a mix with apple cider vinegar, coconut oil, salmon oil, and hemp seeds. (available through our Amazon smile link) We encourage you to add immune support, probiotics that are foil wrapped or out of the refrigerator section at your health food store, for proper processing, and www.nzymes.com granules and bac- pak. You all know about healthy gut digestion by now and these are so important for your best friends as well! For treats we suggest dried duck or chicken treats. Sweet potato strips wrapped with duck are readily available as well and the dogs love them. Smart Bones and Dream Bones have vegetable-based chew sticks and bones. We no longer feed rawhide! There is formaldehyde in rawhide, a major no-no for your best friend! Keep all kids Easter candy away from your pets! You do not need a visit to the veterinarian! For the vegans out there, I can suggest visiting our store www.LBWFstore.org And picking up a copy of my book “Going Vegan” Of course, that will come after Easter, but it makes a great gift! As a special vegan Easter dinner and a real treat for yourselves, try vegan ham, vegan egg salad, a beautiful red leaf lettuce salad with broccoli, mushrooms, carrot strips, add pine-nuts, cranberries and my favorite dressing is Annie’s Goddess dressing! For dessert have a vegan carrot cake or vegan cupcakes available for you and your family and there’s many wonderful vegan ice cream alternatives! Wishing you love and peace to your family this Easter and Passover time. Your Easter donations to LBWF make a world of difference to the rescued dogs in need! With Love as always, Linda Blair for the rescued dogs of Linda Blair Worldheart Foundation DONATE Bruno's Story ‌ Bruno was recently rescued by LBWF. While taking his freedom pictures, we noticed a strange lump in his left side of his chest and took him to the vet for some answers. Nothing was defined except may be a simple large cyst. We scheduled him for his surgery to remove the cyst. Upon my return to the veterinarian to pick Bruno up, the doctor placed a 9 mm hollow point shotgun shell in my hand! I gasped! This was the unknown cyst in Bruno‘s body! Somebody had shot this magnificent and truly kind, sweet dog with absolute intent to kill! I have seen and been through everything with the dogs, but I have never rescued a dog that had been shot. It took my breath away as I am sure it does yours. I was and continue to be so angry! I work so hard rescuing dogs, and this just took my breath away! The world has many people who do not share our love of the animals and for this, we must pray harder for peace and for these criminals to pay the price for what they do to innocent lives! Animal cruelty has never stopped. Your donations support LBWF to make a difference and to continue fighting on for the animals that need our help!  Wishing Everyone A Magical Day And Week
Of
St. Patrick’s Day!
As the country starts to reopen, we want to update you on all our hard work during the pandemic on behalf of the abandoned dogs and our adoptions!

Sadly, when the shelters started to close because of Covid-19, more dogs needed help and we have tried to be there assisting the best we can by providing a safe haven in their times of need. We have rescued dogs from the shelters, the streets, and from people who sadly lost everything during the California fires, and those who lost their jobs and were no longer able to care for their dogs.

From the start of the pandemic, LBWF saved over 70+ dogs, and found over 100 amazing homes for our rescued LBWF dogs! They went into homes that catered to them and treated them as family members, going camping, to the beach, assisting in online zoom classes and we are all so incredibly grateful to these wonderful homes. The dogs bring so much healing, love and laughter to our lives and through the pandemic!

We have continued our amazing feeding program, including the studies and application of intense herbal nutrition which Linda has been studying and applying for years. The dogs are living longer without pain pills and toxic drugs which decreases their lives by affecting a variety of their organs. We are getting closer to releasing our hard research for dogs to live longer and healthier lives!

Everyone has now heard how toxic some pet food can be, with some food lacking most or all nutrients through the processing of the food to give it a longer shelf life. Allergies and Cancer are just two of the main issues plaguing our pets!

After Linda lost her personal and founding member dogs to cancer, she has spent every day seeking change and applying it to our rescued dogs. Its working! We are the longest and largest overall, actual study on living, happy dogs, anywhere in the world. We are not a dog food company or research lab called a "Testing Sight" who do deplorable experiments to the dogs or other animals and when finished, euthanize the pets! Linda’s original animal welfare work was to fight against the companies who were performing animal experimentation! She has never stopped caring or trying to make the future lives of animals better, healthier and happier!

We can tell you that we feed the LBWF rescued dogs, grain free, (veterinarians are NOT trained in nutrition) as no dog runs into a grain feed to consume grains, corn or potatoes! These additives in food lead to allergies, itchy skin, and CANCER in pets!

We feed as clean as possible, a meat with little processing, no gravies and mix it all together. We use the company www.Nzymes.com products for digestive aid to help keep proper gut health for a healthier pet!
We add immune support, such as Turkey Tail Mushroom to their daily feeding as well!

No table scraps! No fancy store bought treats! They have chemicals and processing that lead to sickness! Buy dried meats, Pork Chomps and the new vegetable-based chew treats available through our online account on Amazon Smile or at a variety of stores.
We will continue to give you guidance through our work and will happily answer any questions you have. You can email us through the foundation by visiting www.LindaBlairWorldheart.org

Here are a few of our rescued dogs available for adoption or recently adopted wishing you a Magical St. Patrick's Day and do not forget you can show your support through fun clothing, coffee mugs, caps, masks and more, by visiting our NEW ONLINE STORE for the rescued dogs! www.LBWFstore.org
We even have Linda's autographed items available now as well! Pick up her autographed, GOING VEGAN! book for your own health journey!

Your donations and support helps us to continue rescuing and rehoming the dogs in need!

Wishing you peace, safety, & good health for you and your pets!

EXPLORING AWE-INSPIRING FACTS ABOUT ANIMALS’ EMOTIONAL LIVES AND REVOLUTIONARY NEW WAYS TO SHOW COMPASSION

PETA Founder Ingrid Newkirk discusses her latest book ‘Animalkind’ and what lies ahead in our relationship with animals as humanity emerges from the pandemic

INGRID NEWKIRK, Author and PETA Founder

BACKGROUND:

As humanity emerges from the pandemic and returns to offices, in-person attendance at sports events, and evenings out at restaurants, many new questions arise about our relationship with animals. Since Ingrid Newkirk founded PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) in 1980, it has become an unstoppable force and the largest animal rights organization in the world. Her latest book Animalkind explores the richness of animals’ lives, their talents, emotions, and intelligence, and how we humans can act to prevent harming them. The book delves into the many ways our modern world is leaving animal exploitation in the dust, from cutting-edge technology that is replacing experiments on animals to the apple, grape and tea leaf leathers and synthetic fibers that are already shaking up the clothing industry and the arrival of animal-free foods from plant milks to veggie “chicken” nuggets made of soy.

Ingrid Newkirk will be available to discuss her latest book, share fascinating animal facts, and explore a vision of the future that will allow humans to create a better world—such as choosing new materials over animal hide, fur, and feathers; giving teachers and students dissection models that can be re-used and do not reduce wild frog populations; healthier and environmentally protective vegan foods that remove the need for slaughterhouses and factory farms; and virtual reality experiences that allow close encounters with animals never possible in the circus.

DID YOU KNOW THESE FUN ANIMAL FACTS?

· While the divorce rate in the U.S. is around 40 to 45 percent, swans, like many birds, are so devoted to their romantic partners that they have a 95 percent rate of staying together for a lifetime.

· Oinks, grunts, and squeals aren’t just arbitrary noises made by pigs More than twenty of these sounds have been identified with specific circumstances, from wooing mates to expressing distress and joy.

· Cows communicate with each other using subtle changes in facial expression; rhinos use a breath language; and frogs have learned to combat street noise by using drainpipes to amplify their calls.

· Chickens form complex pecking orders in which each bird not only understands her ranking but can recall the faces and ranks of more than one hundred other birds.

Practical Guidance and Compassionate Support for Pet Owners Before, During, and After the Death of a Beloved Companion Animal
Our pets are members of our families. The death or separation from a beloved animal friend—whether anticipated or unexpected—can unleash a roller coaster of emotions. In this compassionate guide based on 20 years' experience helping individuals and teaching veterinary professionals, Angela Garner offers practical support and guidance to help you prepare for your pet’s death ahead of time, do your best by your animal friend when the time comes, and work through your grieving process afterward. The author explores how best to prepare for the death of your beloved pet, including recognizing changes in your pet’s well-being, palliative care at home, taking care of your pet’s remains, ceremonies, and more. She discusses natural death and euthanasia and offers exercises and activities to help you work through difficult issues, such as what to discuss with the vet and how to stay focused on your pet’s welfare when euthanasia is anticipated. Sharing her own experiences and those of others, she explores practices to help you cope with fears and overwhelming emotions, retain a center of inner calm when making crucial decisions, and find the courage to say goodbye when it is time. Angela Garner also addresses the different emotional components of the bereavement process—fears beforehand and guilt and anger afterward—and includes a compassionate discussion about children and pet loss as well as how to support a grieving companion animal in the family. Offering step-by-step support throughout, this guide brings hope and reassurance that, while grief may feel insurmountable, you will come out the other side to once again reengage with life.
Author Bio: Angela Garner, animal bereavement specialist and former nurse, founded a national support service in the UK to help people through the grieving process, developing a wide range of pet bereavement support resources. Holly Sizemore, Chief Mission Officer

Holly Sizemore entered the animal welfare world in 1991 when she discovered a colony of community cats eating near a restaurant dumpster. The experience inspired her to co-found the first trap-neuter-return (TNR) organization in Utah (Community Animal Welfare Society, located in Salt Lake City) and she co-led that organization as a volunteer for more than 10 years.

In 2000, Holly joined No More Homeless Pets in Utah and served the organization in a variety of roles, ending with Executive Director from 2007 to 2010. While at No More Homeless Pets in Utah, she created and implemented some of the first comprehensive, targeted community cat public-private partnerships with Utah shelters. During her tenure, more than 100,000 lives were saved across the state in Utah shelters, thanks to the efforts of No More Homeless Pets in Utah and its many partners.

In 2010, Holly took a national role at Best Friends and has provided leadership support and stewarded growth in these areas: animal care at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, the Best Friends Network, community cat programs, and puppy mill, cat and pit bull initiatives. In her current role as Chief Mission Officer, Holly oversees the areas of national programs, national no-kill advancement, and legislative and advocacy efforts. A member of Best Friends’ senior leadership team, she feels very lucky to be able to work with the teams at Best Friends who are dedicated to scaling up and sustaining the programs that will help create a no-kill country by 2025.

Holly’s leadership has focused on growing and improving upon many of the early innovative no-kill programs and tactics implemented throughout Utah, including comprehensive shelter-focused community cat programs, large-scale adoption events, targeted spay/neuter, open adoption policies, community collaboration, data analysis efforts to steer lifesaving, legislative reform, widespread marketing and awareness efforts, effective change and conflict management strategies, and public-private partnerships that involve working side-by-side with shelter partners. The shelter-focused community cat programs have evolved into one of the most effective, efficient and transformational tools in a community’s journey toward no-kill, and Holly is most proud of seeing how use of this model is growing exponentially throughout the U.S.

Holly holds a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the University of Utah and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Washington. She and her husband share their home with a few former community cats and one adopted dog. Holly believes that we will achieve our common goal of achieving no-kill nationwide by 2025 through the right balance of warrior resolve, patient persistence and true collaboration.

Here's what you need to know to find the best find a pet-friendly apartment for your needs.

Search for pet-friendly amenities

Newer apartment buildings come with all sorts of amenities, beyond a pool and fitness center. Pet-friendly apartments will have on-site dog parks, washing stations and even pet daycare.

Get renters insurance

You may have heard why it's important to get renters insurance. Consider buying it for the year if you're ready to move to a new apartment with your pet. It could show your new landlord that you're responsible and are covered in case your pet causes any damage to the unit.

Get a recommendation

Ask your former landlord to write a letter of recommendation, highlighting your dog's behavior and the condition of your previous apartment. You may want to include other types of documentation such as obedience school documents, pet sitters who took care of your dog and/or a former neighbor.

Pay a pet deposit

This topic will inevitably come up in your apartment search. Most apartment buildings will require a pet deposit, which is generally a few hundred dollars.

Take photos of your apartment before you move in

Be sure to take photos of your apartment before you move in. This could serve to prove that your pet didn't ruin the unit but can also be shown to future landlords to state your case that your dog is well behaved and get your security deposit back.
