Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo Capturing Packed Crowds,
Standing Ovations and Rave Reviews

Rock Icons Ignite Headlines Explosion with Summer Concert Tour

Los Angeles, CA (August 31, 2012) – Rock star Pat Benatar and legendary producer/musician/arranger/co-writer Neil Giraldo are generating phenomenal headlines and rave reviews while on tour this summer. The powerhouse couple has launched a concert tour with Journey & Loverboy that includes shows across the U.S. as well as stops in Canada.

Here’s a glimpse of what’s being said:

“It was all about Pat Benatar. Yes I know that Journey headlined Saturday night’s packed Gexa Energy Pavilion concert. And Loverboy was also in the house; they went on first when the sun was still bright and hot. But for me, Benatar’s 55-minute set smack dab in the middle of the triumvirate was the absolute highlight of the evening.”
- Mario Tarradell, The Dallas Morning News

“Yes, Pat Benatar’s voice still is the eighth wonder of the world. The four-time Grammy Award-winning rock singer always sounded terrific and unmatched back in the days of vinyl, and she sounds super impressive on the stage today. Thirty years after releasing her genre-bending album, “Get Nervous,” — and three decades after marrying her guitarist-band leader, Neil Giraldo — Benatar still brings her A-game and rock and roll’s greatest smile to the spotlight.”
- Scott Smith, Real Rock News

I arrived at the stunning Constellation Brands-Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center just as Pat Benatar began ripping into “Invincible,” and that was all I needed to hear to lay my irritation to rest….The chemistry between Benatar and her husband/guitarist Neil Giraldo shined on an out-of-this-world interpretation of “We Belong” that separated itself from a set already littered with classic rock staples, so that will remain the moment that sticks with me long after the summer comes to a close.
- David Hens, Examiner.com

Hits by Benatar and Giraldo include “Love Is a Battlefield,” “Hit Me with Your Best Shot,” “Heartbreaker,” “Promises in the Dark,” and “We Belong.” Career highlights for the timeless music icons include multi-platinum albums, top 40 singles, Grammy and American Music Awards.

Total Recall is an action thriller about reality and memory, inspired anew by the famous short story “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale” by Philip K. Dick. Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), even though he's got a beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale) whom he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life - real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. Finding himself on the run from the police – controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston) – there is no one Quaid can trust, except possibly a rebel fighter (Jessica Biel) working for the head of the underground resistance (Bill Nighy). The line between fantasy and reality gets blurred and the fate of his world hangs in the balance as Quaid discovers his true identity, his true love, and his true fate. The film is directed by Len Wiseman. The screenplay is by Kurt Wimmer and Mark Bomback and the screen story is by Ronald Shusett & Dan O’Bannon and Jon Povill and Kurt Wimmer. The producers are Neal H. Moritz and Toby Jaffe.

Musician’s Rescued Dog Center Of DNA-Guessing Contest To Benefit Animal Charity, Live Show Set To Announce Winners

Nashville, TN – Randy Kohrs, a Grammy-winning producer and musician, is hosting a rather unconventional contest to raise money for Agape Animal Rescue. Dubbed “Wutt’s The Mutt?”, the contest centers on one of Kohrs’ rescued mixed-breed canines, a female named Coulter.

“My wife, Ashley, rescued her from the Metro Animal Control facility a couple of days after the flood, where she was going to be put down soon, and we’ve always wondered exactly what kind of dog she was,” Kohrs says. “As a birthday gift to Ashley, I arranged for Coulter to have her DNA tested and the mystery to finally be solved.”

Coulter is one of two rescue dogs the couple has acquired, and they spend their days entertaining clients at Kohrs’ Slack Key Studio in Nashville – to the point that they’ve even been thanked in CD liner notes by some of those clients!

“The artists and musicians that come through here always ask what she is, and we would joke that we should start a betting pool for it. Then, we just thought, ‘why not do that?’ Only, instead of it being a gamble, make it a contest that would help other homeless animals,” he explains. “Ashley asked Tanya Willis, the head of Agape Animal Rescue, if they’d like to be the recipients of the proceeds, and it’s all come together really fast as a result!”

Participants in the “Wutt’s the Mutt” contest will donate $5 to guess what they believe to be the top three breeds that make up the dog in question. The top three winners will be announced on June 2nd, 2012, at the Station Inn in Nashville at the Randy Kohrs & Friends Jam Benefiting Agape Animal Rescue show, where proceeds from ticket sales will also go to the charity (discounts for participants). Prizes will include autographed CD’s from some of Slack Key Studio’s clients, including award-winning singer-songwriters, Jim Lauderdale and Larry Cordle, as well as other treats for both people and pets.

For more information on how to submit your guess, as well as see pictures and video footage of Coulter, visit the “Wutt’s the Mutt? Contest” page at www.slackkeystudio.com.

About Matt Long

Matt Long has been a competitive athlete his entire life. As a member of his high school basketball team, he was required to run in the Brooklyn/Queens X-country Championships. With no prior running experience, he finished fifth for his school, completing the race in uncomfortable high top sneakers. At Iona College, he competed in their Division I basketball program for which a high level of fitness was mandatory.

Strength and endurance became especially paramount in his life after college when he became a New York City Firefighter. It was around this time he took up distance running and began competing in Ironman triathlons, finishing his first Ironman race in 2005. He then set his sights on qualifying for the Boston marathon by running the ING NYC marathon later that year. With hard work, dedication and persistence, he trimmed 30 minutes off his personal best to run a 3:13, qualifying for the 2006 Boston event.

On the morning of Dec. 22, 2005, Matt Long's life changed in an instant. He was cycling to work in the early morning when he was struck and run over by a 20-ton bus making an illegal turn. The injuries he sustained pushed him to the brink of death. He received 68 units of blood in the first 40 hours after the accident and spent five months in the hospital. More than 40 operations later, he finally began a grueling rehabilitation regime. Matt found the psychological consequences of the accident nearly as hard to process as the physical severities. His doctor had told him he'd be lucky to ever walk again without a cane.

Matt fought through months of fear, despair, loneliness, and intense physical and psychological pain to regain the life he once had. His recovery was a miraculous one which included everything from learning to walk again and, a mere three years later, running in the 2008 New York City Marathon. "Running saved my life," Matt says, and his determination and perseverance has turned him into a symbol of hope and recovery for countless others.

Matt's story was covered in a wildly popular article in the March 2009 edition of Runner's World magazine. Matt has since chronicled his life and journey both before and after the accident in his book The Long Run, released in October 2010. Matt has also started the I WILL Foundation which provides coaching, training and financial support to help people overcome adversity and challenges caused by illness or traumatic injury.

He currently resides in New York City.
