Natalia Morris, oldest sister and main songwriter for SOUTHERN HALO, will join host Jon Patch this Saturday, April 21, live on his Talkin’ Pets radio show to chat about their upcoming album, as well as their love of animals and array of pets (fish, birds, cat, dog and hamster.)
The concept-driven, dream-inspired JUST LIKE IN THE MOVIES. This 14-track package, produced by Catt Gravitt and Gerald O'Brien, mirrors the emotional and musical growth of Natalia, Hannah and Christina Morris, the three sisters from the Mississippi Delta who form SOUTHERN HALO.
Inspired by a dream of Natalia's, JUST LIKE IN THE MOVIES features 10 songs written or co-written by the lead vocalist/guitarist, and four titles from Music City's hottest tunesmiths. The catchy ode to the glories of Southern womanhood, "Southern Halo," kicks off the project and marks the first "scene" of this movie-made-music. A co-write with Roxie Dean, the strong, multi-layered vocals and sing-along chorus make this a natural choice for the first "instant gratification track" offered with each iTunes and Amazon pre-order of the CD. The disc is the second outing for the trio with SESAC's 2012 Writer of the Year Catt Gravitt (Kelly Clarkson, Jake Owen) and Gerald O'Brien (Martina McBride, Trace Adkins) at the helm.
Continuing the album's theme is the first single "Anything Is Possible." Written by Gravitt and award-winning songwriter/producer Carl Falk, the hooky, upbeat track is a veritable anthem to the power of positive thinking and is already resonating at Country radio. A lyric video, featuring performance footage, can be seen on YouTube.
JUST LIKE IN THE MOVIES explores the excitement found and challenges faced when chasing one's dream. The eagerness to experience new places is offset by the longing for the constant comforts of home, while the idea that anyone can indeed reach for the stars is reinforced. Natalia, Hannah and Christina continue to prove that dreams do come true - if you work hard and believe. Highlights abound, and the tracks range from Rock-ish ("My Girls & Me") to beautifully poignant ("Not Today") to confrontational ("Hey Boy").
The album's title track is a Pop/Rock-infused, modern-day fairytale that features underscored Rap-style background vocals and a sultry yet whimsical feel. Written by Gravitt, Jana Kramer and Brian Kierulf, "Just Like In The Movies" showcases SOUTHERN HALO's diversity and their fearless approach to music. The track was singled in the U.K. late last year and enjoyed enormous success.
"Missing Mississippi," written by Natalia and Jennifer Adan, slows things down with the true tale of Natalia's first night in her new Nashville home. Sweet, reflective and emotional, the song shows that sacrifices are always made in pursuit of the dreams that inspire us. Another track that shines the light on leaving, "Famous" tells the tale of the loneliness that can surround stardom. Penned with Alex Dooley, the message is deep - and partially hidden by a seductive melody. "Tom Girl," written with Melissa Bollea Rowe, describes a character familiar to the Morris sisters: someone who loves to get their hands dirty, but also loves to dress up for special occasions. As Natalia says, "everyone talks about 'tom boys' or 'girly girls' - no one ever talks about 'tom girls.' Christina loves fishing while Hannah rides horses and I enjoy building projects in our backyard, but we love to get prettied up for a night out. We're all 'tom girls.'"
Tom girls they may be, but Natalia, Hannah and Christina are all driven by the same dream. Music inspired SOUTHERN HALO; now their songs are inspiring young Country fans everywhere. Drummer Christina and bassist Hannah are still in their late teens, and Natalia just recently crossed over into her early 20s. They're exploring, challenging themselves to take risks and raise their bar - and JUST LIKE IN THE MOVIES proves they have reached new heights - and they are proud of it. This new album is poised to follow the phenomenal success of their previous, eponymous CD, and is sure to bring new listeners to the fold as it breaks new ground for the trio.

If you were to turn on an old transistor radio and tune it to a country station, you might hear legends like Merle Haggard, Hank Williams, and Johnny Cash crooning from the speakers… but newcomer Paul Bogart could just as easily fit alongside that vintage lineup. Though his songs are fresh and he himself is young, he is an old soul with a knack for capturing time-honored traditions and summing up classic sentiments in catchy, three-minute songs. Exuding sincerity and a rare, down-to-earth charm, Paul Bogart is, simply put, the epitome of traditional country music.
Possessing elements of a quippy, good-natured Brad Paisley song along with the boots-and-spurs appeal of a George Strait tune, Bogart’s music additionally radiates authenticity, a core component of country music.
Bogart’s new release, Leather, is the perfect paradigm of that Old West lifestyle that Bogart himself lives and breathes, “This album is about hard work, hustle, and loving the woman God gave you,” he says candidly. “It’s about keeping your head down when you win and crawling back in the saddle when you hit the ground.” Sentiments Bogart knows firsthand, having grown up in north-east Oklahoma to a family of truckers, team ropers and musicians; the title track, “Leather,” hearkens back to those Heartland roots and homegrown work ethic. “I think about my grandparents and how hard they worked to make it,” muses Paul. “It’s given me inspiration and motivation to work hard and never give up on my dreams.” Indeed, Leather taps into the belief that there’s beauty that comes from weathering storms together and seeing tough times through; it’s an anthem for anyone who’s ever pressed on, persevered, or prayed for something better.
Paul’s lead single and video, “All That Cowboy Jazz,” is an infectious western swing song that will have listeners on their feet, boot-scootin’ across the floor in seconds. Co-written with a Hall of Fame radio DJ (WSM’s Bill Whyte) and a world class multi-instrumentalist (Zach Runquist), Bogart lists the let-loose, line-dance-potential number as a personal favorite from the album.
Produced by Sony Nashville recording artist Trent Willmon (Little Big Town’s “Rain on a Tin Roof,” Montgomery Gentry’s “Back When I Knew It All”), Leather was released on September 8th, 2017.

Since landing in the National finals of the 2014 Texaco Country Showdown, these Mississippi Delta natives have worked hard honing their craft. They recorded their first EP with Alabama’s Jeff Cook, and their fall 2015 CD, SOUTHERN HALO, with SESAC’s 2012 Writer of the Year Catt Gravitt (Kelly Clarkson, Jake Owen) and Gerald O’Brien (writer of hits for Martina McBride, Trace Adkins) at the helm. The Mississippi Delta is revered as the birthplace of the Blues and Rock & Roll. Soon, it will also be recognized as the home of Southern Halo, a soulful sister trio hailing from the small town of Cleveland, Mississippi. Growing up in an area so rich in musical history had its benefits for Natalia, Christina and Hannah Morris: a close-knit family nurtured the girls love of music and community support helped boost the siblings’ confidence. Their first liveperformance was in Cleveland - at the Airport Grocery - when Hannah, the youngest, was just nine years old.
In the years since, Southern Halo has crafted a blend of “new” Country and Classic Country with a dash of Southern Rock to create CPR: Country/Pop/Rock. It’s a youthful, signature sound made immediately recognizable by the sweet sibling harmonies that are fast-becoming their trademark. The girls lay it all out on the line during their high-energy stage shows, honing their chops as openers for top-tier acts Brantley Gilbert, Eric Paslay, Tyler Farr, Randy Houser, John Michael Montgomery, Parmalee, Old Dominion, Jamie Lynn Spears, Craig Campbell, Uncle Kracker, Julie Roberts, American Young and B.B. King.
The stars aligned early for these three sisters: in 2014, Southern Halo made the National finals of the Texaco Country Showdown at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium® and recorded their first EP with Alabama’s Jeff Cook. Since then, they have headlined Sara Evans’ Rock The South Festival in Cullman, Alabama, walked the red carpet at the CMT Music Awards and secured an endorsement from Gibson Guitars. Earlier this year, the trio performed at an elite pre-GRAMMY Awards show on the rooftop terrace of the GRAMMY Museum ® at LA Live in Los Angeles and filmed a series for online distribution. They are featured on RADIO COUNTRY DISNEY and their music video can be seen on CMT, MTV and THE COUNTRY NETWORK. Southern Halo is one of a handful of all-female bands listed in a recent BILLBOARD article highlighting the next hottest Country music
“We’re still learning and we know it,” admits Natalia, who’s written with Mike Daly (Jason Mraz, Alanis Morissette), SESAC’s 2012 Writer of the Year Catt Gravitt (Kelly Clarkson, Jake Owen) and others. “We’re working hard and having a blast. This is what we all want – and we understand it has to be earned.” At 19, Natalia (pronounced Na ta Lee’ Ya) is the trio’s lead vocalist, primary songwriter, guitarist and principal spokesperson. Although when the sisters are together the words flow quickly from all three.
The music flows as well: their self-titled debut album, co-produced by Catt Gravitt and Gerald O’Brien, was released late last year. The disc is a mix of tempos and attitudes: happiness exudes from the grooves, and even heartache is uplifted by lively rhythmic treatments. MusicRow’s Robert K. Oermann says the sisters “harmonize like angels.” The trio’s current single, “Rewind,” follows the international success of their hypnotically-upbeat Country radio debut, “Little White Dress” (written by N. Morris, Gravitt and O’Brien).
“It’s been kind of insane,” confesses 17-year-old “wild child” drummer Christina. “We play out as much as we can, from coffee bars to big festivals to little listening rooms. Basically, we’re on stage as much as possible, but our biggest thrill to date was playing the Ryman Auditorium.”
For 16-year-old bassist Hannah the road is a way a life she embraces. The laid-back, free-spirited “baby” of the family can’t imagine life without music. “We’re in this together,” she says reflectively. “We don’t attend regular classes; we study intensively online. Everything is geared to give us more time to work on the music.”
No one can say the girls aren’t “working it.” Musical tastes differ – even among sisters. With a range of influences that runs the gamut from Vince Gill and Justin Timberlake (Natalia) to Dave Grohl and Pink (Christina) to Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber (Hannah), the creative forces in play are diverse.
The girls love to play – onstage and off – managing to live a basic teenage “experience.” Time is spent with family and friends and a menagerie that includes horses, dogs, cats, ducks, numerous fish, turtles and a hamster. Natalia enjoys running, while Christina loves to fish and go “mudding.” Hannah is an experienced equestrian who loves Hunter Jumpers. If music were off the table? “Nata” would work in music marketing, “Tinka” would take to outer space as a Cosmologist and Hannah would become a veterinarian.
In the meantime, compromise and balance carry the day – allowing Southern Halo to keep reaching for those perfectly-aligned stars. 5/29/16
