A Birthday Present for Tippi
Tippi Hedren

Hi Everybody!!!!!......TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY!!!!.....I AM 88 YEARS OLD!!!!!!......WOO HOO!!!!!

Some of you have asked, "What do you want for your Birthday, Tippi?....Anything special?". I thought for a few minutes and said, "Yes, it would be special, but it's not for me. I've got too much' stuff! At this point in my life, I'm going to be...88!!!!!" Retirement is a four letter word as far as I'm concerned, but, you know what I would really love????....I've been rescuing the Big Cat in captivity since 1973...I have been Founder and President of the ROAR Foundation since 1983 to support The Wild Ones of Shambala. I've been in charge of raising the funds to support these magnificent Big Cats, all born in the U.S. to be sold as a pet or for financial exploitation. This has been an amazing life, one I would not change a single day for any pipe dream life of riches and elegance for anything. I've never taken a salary nor have I been paid on any level from the Roar Foundation.

So, this is why I'm going to ask all of you to   Yes, $88,000.00 for The Roar Foundation to support the magnificent Wild Ones at the Shambala Preserve, in my name! Tippi Hedren...You may donate any amount. You could donate, eight dollars & eighty eight cents, eight hundred eighty dollars, eighty-eight dollars, eighty-eight thousand dollars....In my name!!

I'm very excited about my birthday this year....because it will all be benefiting the most  important animals in my life!!!!!!

To those of you who responded to my last birthday request, I'm so hoping you will remember how successful that program was in benefitting the Magnificent Wild Ones.

Thank you, for reading this and acting upon it, and I'm so hoping to see all of you at Shambala this year, over and over again!!!!

Thank you so much, for caring!!!!!!!!....From all of us at Shambala, Animal and human!!!!!!.......We hope to see you,.... soon!!!!!

With love for the Wild Ones. .......

Linda Blair's Birthday!
Happy Birthday Linda

 In Linda's Honor
Linda has made a huge difference in the lives of many and the LBWF team has started this fundraiser in honor of her birthday to celebrate a remarkable woman who has touched the lives of so many. Linda's birthday wish has been the same, to continue rescuing abandoned animals from the desert, home foreclosures, shelters and sadly emergency victims from natural disasters. Please help us give back to her and make her birthday wish come true.
Many have heard the stories of what inspired Linda to start rescuing and we know many may still wonder what is Linda Blair really like and what a day in the life of Linda Blair is like. As one of her volunteers I have been both privileged and honored to work with her side by side.  I will never forget the day I first stepped foot on the property of the LBWF Wellness Center. My mouth dropped open as I looked around. Linda calls it "design on a dime" but in reality it was designed with love. It is absolutely beautiful. You can't help but smile as you look around and see all these dogs celebrating their newfound freedom knowing they are safe in the hands of an angel.  There are a variety of dogs large and small, young to old at LBWF and they all have one thing in common; they are all really great dogs who receive an abundance of love. They are all very happy and quite entertaining. There are a lot of "zoomies" going on at LBWF. I was fortunate to also have met a few of the Katrina dogs that Linda personally rescued from Louisiana.
When Linda says she works 24/7, 365 days a year she is not lying. I am a witness to this. Linda has no holidays, sick days, vacation days, or weekends. Even on her birthday I can guarantee she will put in a full day's work and then some. So for those that would like to know what Linda Blair is really like, the first thought that comes to mind is she is like the Energizer Bunny, she keeps going and going. She is compassionate, and determined. She has a heart of gold and she truly does want to make the world a better place for both people and animals. She is funny and highly intelligent. But what is truly amazing is to see the bond Linda has with the dogs. The love she has for them shines through her and that is when you know you are in the presence of an Angel on Earth. On her computer you will see thousands of pictures of all the dogs Linda has rescued throughout the years. She remembers every single dog's story and nothing warms her heart more than receiving updates on her dogs that were adopted. So if any of our adopters are reading this, please remember to keep in touch and update us with stories and pictures!  Linda has a special gift when it comes to animals and there is no doubt rescuing is Linda's calling.
Linda does not live an easy life. Within 10 minutes of her waking up her work day begins. Linda is actively involved in the day to day routine of caring for the dogs. That is usually enough work for one, but not for Linda. Along with caring for the dogs she also looks over each application that comes in for one of the dogs. She personally makes the phone calls and spends a great deal of time getting to know a potential adopter. She is an incredible matchmaker and her main priority is finding the perfect dog for the adopter and the perfect home for the dog. On the days when potential adopters come to meet the dogs, Linda meets with them, showing them a variety of dogs. When the perfect match is found, Linda then does the paper work and puts together the adoption packet. There are home checks that are done, dogs being delivered to their forever homes, shopping for supplies, dog food, and anything else needed for the dogs, phone calls to be made or returned, veterinarian appointments, freedom pictures and videos to be taken, dog postings to be done. This is a daily routine for Linda. Late at night, when she finally gets to sit down it isn't to watch TV or rest. This is the time she finally gets on the computer. Her email inbox is overwhelming to see. This is the sad part of rescue. The hundreds of emails from shelter networkers begging for help. These emails include videos and pictures of innocent animals whose lives are on the line through no fault of their own. It is heartbreaking to see. When Linda is not reading emails she is writing her posts for social media, and researching. Linda is very passionate about education, especially when it comes to cancer. Her passion is to teach others the information she has learned by working with the best nutrionalists. Linda's "Stamp Out Cancer" program works. I have seen the results. Linda has spoken many times about one of her founding dogs, Riley and through her research and program she was given the gift of more time with him. Riley was my buddy and I never would have known he had cancer if Linda didn't tell me. He would happily trot around in his yard, roll in the sunshine and he LOVED his pool. He enjoyed going for walks and he could out run me which I think he got a kick out of taking off running when we would go for walks together. He was very smart and curious. Many times I would be working on my laptop and Riley would watch, always sticking his head close to the computer to see what I was doing. I know without Linda's program I never would have met him.
Linda is also very passionate about mandatory spaying/neutering, stopping puppy mills and shutting down backyard breeders. She attends meetings and speaks out publicly informing and educating along the way. She has fought against Breed Specific legislation, and her goal is to help change the laws regarding animal welfare.  Many weekends are spent traveling to different conventions around the world giving fans the opportunity to meet her, and she also uses it as an opportunity to educate nationwide. She truly cares about all animals in America and around the world. That is why she is always pushing "Emergency Preparedness" to inform people how to care and save animals from the high temperatures in the summer, storms, hurricanes and freezing temperatures in the winter. She wants to make sure this information is available to everyone.
2017 was not an easy year for anyone including Linda. Several emergency rescues were taken on by LBWF because of the fires. We also had several medical cases. Our emergency funds were depleted. Many of you have seen our Facebook posts showing the rescues. That is why we are holding this fundraiser. We want to give back to Linda. She works so hard and times have been rough. We have seen the stress, the worry and the discouragement in Linda's eyes but she fights through it and continues working and rescuing. She does this because she made a promise and she will never break a promise.  She is a force to reckon with.
Linda is truly an amazing woman. She is a mentor, and an inspiration. She is one of the strongest people I have ever met. She truly cares about people and animals. She is a true hero and I am honored to call her my friend. Linda has spent her entire life giving back to others. She has entertained the world for many years through her movies, traveled around the world meeting fans, she has given to numerous charities, and she has rescued dogs from so many shelters. Let us join together and give back to Linda for her birthday. No amount is too small, whether it is giving up one day's worth of coffee, or donating the price of a movie ticket. Any amount will help. Let's make this one of Linda's happiest birthdays ever by helping her to help the voiceless! She deserves it. To make a donation to Linda's birthday fundraiser please click the Donate button below.
Thank you all for taking the time to read this.

A Birthday Present for Tippi
Hi Everybody!!!!!......I'm having a Birthday on January 19, which is in about four days!!!!......So many people have asked me,
"What do you want for your Birthday Tippi? Anything special?" I thought for a few minutes and said, "Yes, I know what I want - and it would be special. But it's not for me.It was such a special idea I thought I'd share it with you. You see, I've got too much 'stuff' at this point in my life, and I'm going to be...86!!!!!......Retirement is a four letter word as far as I'm concerned, but, do you know what I would really love????....I've been rescuing the Big Cat since 1973...I have been Founder and President of the ROAR Foundation since 1983 to support The Wild Ones of Shambala. I've been in charge of raising the funds to support these magnificent Big Cats, all born in the U.S. to be sold as a pet or for financial exploitation. This has been an amazing life, one that I would not change a single day of for any pipe dream life of riches and elegance. I've never taken a salary nor have I been paid on any level from the Roar Foundation.
"IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!!!"

Last January 9, 2015, I submitted to a 10 hour operation on the vertebrae in my neck. I had seen my MD to stop my constant headaches.  He looked at the MRI and said...."How are you holding up your head???"....I said, "What"? He repeated the question and showed me the evidence of the problem existed in the vertebrae in my neck.  Next minute, I was in the Hospital.....The day after the  operation my truly brilliant Dr. Kavenfar explained it would take a full year before I would be feeling well, and for the anesthesia to leave my body. For 8 to 9 months I would have to wear a Miami neck brace (really attractive) 24/7, yes that means, day and night for at least eight months. After that, it would take another several months for my vertebrae to heal. I still wear the brace at night. Actually it makes me feel secure and safe.

I'm telling you all of this because I'm feeling better. However, this is why you haven't been seeing very much of me the past year. I tried working, several times, but found it exhausting - as much as I didn't want to believe my MD about that long year it would take take for me to feel good again. And I have to remember, I AM beginning the last half of my eighties!!!!!  I keep forgetting that!!!!!

So, this is why I'm going to ask all of you to help me raise $86,000. One thousand dollars for each of my 86 years!!!!! Yes, $86,000 for The Roar Foundation to support the magnificent Wild Ones at the Shambala Preserve, thru the ROAR FOUNDATION in my name...Tippi Hedren!! You could donate any amount, eight dollars, eight hundred dollars, eight thousand dollars, eighty-six thousand dollars....What ever you choose....In my name!! And, we'll put your name on the Birthday Card for Tippi's Birthday Fund!! Just think, you wouldn't have to shop, choose or wrap a present and your gift will be used to keep the magnificent Wild Ones of Shambala in the perfect life to which they have become accustomed, and are so deserving!!!!!

I'm very excited about my birthday this year....because it will all be benefiting the most  important animals in my life!!!!!!

Thank you for reading this and acting upon it....I'm so hoping to see all of you at Shambala this year, over and over again!!!!

With so much love for the Shambala Wild Ones,

About The Algonquin Cat:

For many years the history of The Algonquin Cat was believed to have its origins in the 1930’s, when a stray cat came wandering into the hotel for food and water.  After the hotel acquired an out-of-print book written by the hotel’s first general manager, Frank Case, a chapter was discovered about a cat named Billy. Based on the timeline of the book, the hotel is now proud to say the lineage of The Algonquin Cat dates back to the early 1920's. Two days after Billy passed, a stray cat wandered into the hotel and The Algonquin welcomed Rusty. The famous classical actor, John Barrymore, was a resident at the time in the early 1930's and Rusty was renamed Hamlet in his honor. Hamlet is said to have been Barrymore's greatest stage role. The hotel has had a total of 11 cats, including Billy. The lineage includes seven Hamlets and three Matildas. Each cat that has reigned at The Algonquin has been a rescue. In 1980, author Hilary Knight immortalized The Algonquin Cat with his cartoons for a children’s book on which he collaborated with Val Schaffer. The current Matilda began her residence in December 2010.Today, Matilda is looked after by the hotel’s Chief Cat Officer, Alice De Almeida. The hotel’s executive chef cooks her special meals on holidays. She receives fan mail and gifts constantly, from around the world, including Japan, Australia and Russia. Matilda can be found on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. She can also be reached via e-mail: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
