ABOUT SOUTHERN HALO
This soulful sister trio hails from the small town of Cleveland, Mississippi and features Natalia, Christina and Hannah Morris. Natalia, 19 years old, is the principal songwriter, guitarist and lead vocalist, while 17-year-old Christina plays drums. Younger sister Hannah, 16, is the group’s bassist. Since landing in the National finals of the 2014 Texaco Country Showdown, these Mississippi Delta natives have worked hard honing their craft. They recorded their first EP with Alabama’s Jeff Cook, and their fall 2015 CD, SOUTHERN HALO, with SESAC’s 2012 Writer of the Year Catt Gravitt (Kelly Clarkson, Jake Owen) and Gerald O’Brien (writer of hits for Martina McBride, Trace Adkins) at the helm. They headlined Sara Evans’ Rock The South Festival in Cullman, Alabama, performed at an elite pre-GRAMMY Awards show on the rooftop terrace of the GRAMMY Museum® at LA Live in Los Angeles and launched Townsquare Media’s “Say It With Pepsi” Concert Series in Illinois.

The Mississippi Delta is revered as the birthplace of the Blues and Rock & Roll. Soon, it will also be recognized as the home of Southern Halo, a soulful sister trio hailing from the small town of Cleveland, Mississippi. Growing up in an area so rich in musical history had its benefits for Natalia, Christina and Hannah Morris: a close-knit family nurtured the girls love of music and community support helped boost the siblings’ confidence. Their first liveperformance was in Cleveland - at the Airport Grocery - when Hannah, the youngest, was just nine years old.
In the years since, Southern Halo has crafted a blend of “new” Country and Classic Country with a dash of Southern Rock to create CPR: Country/Pop/Rock. It’s a youthful, signature sound made immediately recognizable by the sweet sibling harmonies that are fast-becoming their trademark. The girls lay it all out on the line during their high-energy stage shows, honing their chops as openers for top-tier acts Brantley Gilbert, Eric Paslay, Tyler Farr, Randy Houser, John Michael Montgomery, Parmalee, Old Dominion, Jamie Lynn Spears, Craig Campbell, Uncle Kracker, Julie Roberts, American Young and B.B. King.
The stars aligned early for these three sisters: in 2014, Southern Halo made the National finals of the Texaco Country Showdown at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium® and recorded their first EP with Alabama’s Jeff Cook. Since then, they have headlined Sara Evans’ Rock The South Festival in Cullman, Alabama, walked the red carpet at the CMT Music Awards and secured an endorsement from Gibson Guitars. Earlier this year, the trio performed at an elite pre-GRAMMY Awards show on the rooftop terrace of the GRAMMY Museum ® at LA Live in Los Angeles and filmed a series for online distribution. They are featured on RADIO COUNTRY DISNEY and their music video can be seen on CMT, MTV and THE COUNTRY NETWORK. Southern Halo is one of a handful of all-female bands listed in a recent BILLBOARD article highlighting the next hottest Country music
“We’re still learning and we know it,” admits Natalia, who’s written with Mike Daly (Jason Mraz, Alanis Morissette), SESAC’s 2012 Writer of the Year Catt Gravitt (Kelly Clarkson, Jake Owen) and others. “We’re working hard and having a blast. This is what we all want – and we understand it has to be earned.” At 19, Natalia (pronounced Na ta Lee’ Ya) is the trio’s lead vocalist, primary songwriter, guitarist and principal spokesperson. Although when the sisters are together the words flow quickly from all three.
The music flows as well: their self-titled debut album, co-produced by Catt Gravitt and Gerald O’Brien, was released late last year. The disc is a mix of tempos and attitudes: happiness exudes from the grooves, and even heartache is uplifted by lively rhythmic treatments. MusicRow’s Robert K. Oermann says the sisters “harmonize like angels.” The trio’s current single, “Rewind,” follows the international success of their hypnotically-upbeat Country radio debut, “Little White Dress” (written by N. Morris, Gravitt and O’Brien).
“It’s been kind of insane,” confesses 17-year-old “wild child” drummer Christina. “We play out as much as we can, from coffee bars to big festivals to little listening rooms. Basically, we’re on stage as much as possible, but our biggest thrill to date was playing the Ryman Auditorium.”
For 16-year-old bassist Hannah the road is a way a life she embraces. The laid-back, free-spirited “baby” of the family can’t imagine life without music. “We’re in this together,” she says reflectively. “We don’t attend regular classes; we study intensively online. Everything is geared to give us more time to work on the music.”
No one can say the girls aren’t “working it.” Musical tastes differ – even among sisters. With a range of influences that runs the gamut from Vince Gill and Justin Timberlake (Natalia) to Dave Grohl and Pink (Christina) to Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber (Hannah), the creative forces in play are diverse.
The girls love to play – onstage and off – managing to live a basic teenage “experience.” Time is spent with family and friends and a menagerie that includes horses, dogs, cats, ducks, numerous fish, turtles and a hamster. Natalia enjoys running, while Christina loves to fish and go “mudding.” Hannah is an experienced equestrian who loves Hunter Jumpers. If music were off the table? “Nata” would work in music marketing, “Tinka” would take to outer space as a Cosmologist and Hannah would become a veterinarian.
In the meantime, compromise and balance carry the day – allowing Southern Halo to keep reaching for those perfectly-aligned stars. 5/29/16

"Delivering a passionate and aching vocal somewhere between LeAnn Rimes and Kelly Clarkson, Demetree fits right in with today's country radio." - Music News Miami
"She is an angelic songbird who has mastered her craft ... finding a gem like this is a rarity in any genre." - One Stop Country
Nashville, TN (October 22, 2015) -- Popular Country newcomer Alexandra Demetree's new acoustic music video, "Outta My Head,"premieres today on THE BOOT. Filmed at a vast, aged warehouse in Nashville's historic Germantown district, the video is stunning in its stark simplicity. Demetree's emotionally-charged vocal and the song's high-impact lyrics take center stage, while abundant natural daylight, a sense of space and timelessness play supporting roles. Producer/director Brian Harstine's (Dolly Parton, Ke$ha) minimalistic approach kept the camera focused on Demetree, three supporting musicians (Josh O'Keefe, Jason Roller and Jaran Sorenson), and a few quirky "abandoned" props
Alexandra Demetree "Outta My Head" video
"It was a very straightforward concept," explains Alexandra. "The entire focus was on showcasing the emotion and musical validity of the song in an organic way." For Demetree, returning to the basics was an exciting challenge. "To go back to square one and make an acoustic version of this dynamic, mid-tempo power ballad was just a fantastic experience." The single, produced by Bobby Huff (Reba, 3 Doors Down, Journey, Heart) and written by Mark and Cherie Oakley, is rising on the MusicRow CountryBreakout™ Chart, currentlysitting at # 60. "Outta My Head" delves into the reminders left behind when a relationship ends: the photos, the empty space beside the bed and more. It's a tale that most listeners can relate to, and it follows the petite brunette's three previous successful Country radio releases, including the popular single/video duet of her own composition, "Lay It On Me," with The Bachelorette's Wes Hayden.
Demetree wraps a four-day radio promotion tour of Oklahoma today; the tour will resume in a few weeks. She continues to work on her upcoming EP. Fans can learn more about Alexandra from recent features at The Daily Country, Music News San Francisco, Digital Rodeo and One Stop Country.
ABOUT ALEXANDRA DEMETREE
Alexandra's first performance, at the tender age of two, was singing Christmas carols for her Grandma's bridge group. Throughout her childhood, she sang in her church choir - in Latin. Music quickly became Demetree's passion and her life goal - to the extent that this true "Southerner," traveled all the way to Illinois to secure a degree from Northwestern University's prestigious musical theater program. With musical influences ranging from Motown, Celine Dion, LeAnn Rimes, David Nail, Garth Brooks, Adele and The Eli Young Band, it's no surprise that this native Floridian is an inspiring and energetic performer. Demetree has entertained crowds at Festivals, Fairs and venues ranging from New York's world-famous Carnegie Hall to stages in Cape Town, South Africa. She's performed for First Lady Barbara Bush, at Walt Disney World and at the Toyota Gator Bowl. She's opened for Andy Griggs and toured with singer/actor Wes Hayden. Featured on NPR’s Flagship Program All Things Considered
And Awarded 4 Stars by Rolling Stone
Nashville, Tenn. (October 5, 2012) -- A decade after his death, Waylon Jennings continues to be one of country music’s most beloved artists while winning over a new generation of fans who have embraced his final recordings, Goin’ Down Rockin’. Released September 25th (Saguaro Road Records), Goin’ Down Rockin’ is one of Amazon.com’s best sellers, climbing into the Top 20 of their Music Chart as well as #2 on the Today’s Country Chart and debuted at #14 on Billboard’s Country Albums chart.
The album was the subject of an NPR profile on their top rated show, All Things Considered, this week (http://www.npr.org/2012/10/02/162163568/waylon-jennings-the-last-recordings-of-a-dreamer). "It was almost shocking when I first heard it," singer Jessi Colter, who was married to Jennings for more than 30 years, says in the interview. "It took me several times to be able to listen to it. It sounded like he was there, that he's opening his heart to you, and he's telling you how he feels." Goin’ Down Rockin’ also is the subject of a country music radio special, airing on over 60 stations in North America.
Critics have joined Jennings’ fans in welcoming these treasured recordings. Rolling Stone magazine gave the album four stars, calling it “…raw songs delivered in a weary but still magnificent baritone…a winner, a dignified badass to the very end.” Upon hearing the album, Mojo declared, “it’s apparent here that they don’t make ‘em like Waylon anymore.” His peers concur; Buddy Cannon, producer for Kenny Chesney, Jamey Johnson, George Jones and others reflects, “It's so great to hear Waylon's voice with new music. For any Waylon fan, this is sacred."
One of the all time greatest country music vocalists, Jennings was also the founder of the Outlaw movement, received two Grammy Awards, and multiple Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music awards. 11 of his albums hit #1 on the country charts, with 16 #1 singles. In all, 54 of Jennings’ albums have charted and more than 100 singles cracked the country and pop charts. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001.
