Embark Unveils World’s First Canine Relative Finder
BOSTON October 23, 2018 – Embark, innovator of the leading DNA test for canine breed identification and health, today announced a new upgrade to the Embark experience: the world’s first and only canine relative finder.
Embark’s Doggy DNA Relative Finder will connect you with other Embark dogs that are related to your pup based on the percentage of DNA they share. Every DNA test includes access to this feature.
After Embark’s geneticists analyze your dog’s DNA and provide results, they look at how much DNA your dog shares with others in their database. The company will even tell you how that translates to a human family relationship and how much DNA certain relatives, like siblings or cousins, share. That way, you can tell how closely related your pup is to his or her DNA matches, relative to human family relationships.
“Unlike humans, dogs often have many close relatives living nearby that their owners don't know about. Now, for the first time, you can find these dogs for fun and serious reasons,” said Founder and CEO of Embark Ryan Boyko. “You can share photos and stories or reintroduce the dogs for a pup-date! Or, you can just share notes about health history and training. This can help fill in the gaps of your dog's family medical history and help you know what to watch for.”
Embark has also created a community of dog lovers, so each pet parent has the option to privately message other dog owners to share information and fun facts about their dogs and to set up pup-dates.
Embark’s Dog DNA Test currently looks at over 250 breeds as well as 175 genetic health conditions and traits. For more information about Embark or to find out how to test your own pup, visit www.embarkvet.com.
