In THE ARTIST, Uggie plays the hero’s constant companion throughout an emotional roller-coaster ride providing a clever and versatile performance.
In his starring role as ‘Jack’, Uggie cranks up the tear count as he remains faithful in adversity. At the same time, he also raises a few major laughs on stage giving new meaning to the trick ‘playing dead’.
Uggie’s stunning silent performance stole hearts and won votes as he scooped up the Palm Dog award at the Cannes Film Festival this year.
Uggie is a nine year old Jack Russell Terrier born sometime in 2002.  He was born in Florida and was rehomed because he was way too wild and high energy for his first owners to be just a simple pet dog.  Professional animal trainer, Omar von Muller adopted Uggie and soon after, he started his studio career early in life.
Uggie packed up countless print ads and television commercials for everything from dog food, cars, beer and much more.  He traveled with the “Incredible Dogs Show” to Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Mexico and Miami performing live tricks and riding his skateboard (always a crowd pleaser), which is one of his favorite things to do.
Uggie has also traveled to South Africa where he shot a commercial for Savanna Light, also riding the skateboard.  His first movie MR. FIX IT starring David Boreanaz, shot when he was 1½ years old, was followed by WHAT’S UP SCARLETT, WASSUP ROCKERS, Disney’s LIFE IS RUFF and most recently a featured role in the film WATER FOR ELEPHANTS (where he plays the role of "Queenie") starring Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson.
Animal Trainer, Sarah Clifford, owner of Animal Savvy, provides animal talent for studio projects. Clifford formed a friendship with von Muller many years ago and had often submitted his dogs for film and commercial projects, knowing that any of his dogs were always up for whatever came at them.
Uggie is a hard working dog, but he is also a very loved pet.  On his off days he lives indoors, and sleeps in the master bedroom with the family, and enjoys the company of several other dog and cat brothers and sisters.
